The City of El Centro Invites You to Celebrate “EL GRITO” at Bucklin Park

Let’s Fiesta! The City of El Centro is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated Mexican cultural event, “El Grito,” scheduled for September 23, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Bucklin Park. This event is held annually in collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in Calexico and promises to be a memorable and fun community celebration!

“El Grito” is a family-oriented event for the enjoyment of people of all ages. The event will pay tribute to the golden age of Mexican cinema (Época de Oro del cine mexicano), inviting residents and visitors of all ages to join the festivities. We are delighted the event will feature an art exhibition, live entertainment, delicious food from local vendors, and much more.

The Master of Ceremonies will be locally renowned, Gerardo Venegas. The headliner will be none other than “La Nueva Tempestad,” a norteño group. There will also be entertainment by Hugo Daniel, Raul Uribe, Mariachi Aurora de Calexico, and Ballet Folklorico. Get ready to dance the night away to great norteño tunes that will keep the crowd on their feet!

“This event is made possible through the collaboration of the City of El Centro and the Consulate of Mexico in Calexico,” said City of El Centro Mayor Martha Cardenas-Singh. “It serves as a testament to the strong bonds between our communities and the rich cultural heritage we share.”
