Animal Control

El Centro Police Department’s Animal Control Services are offered Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We handle all animal control related calls such as general complaints, dog bites, noise, etc. We issue citations and warnings as applicable. Lost a pet? Have a complaint? Call us at (760) 352-2111.

FAQ’s:

  • Cat Trap – $35.00 for 7 Days. Pay the fee at 150 N. 11th Street, El Centro, CA and we will set up the trap for you. We will pick up the trap after 7 Days (or if the cat is trapped before that).  Trapped animals are picked up Monday-Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  There will be NO trapped animal pick up after 1:30 p.m.  DUE TO TH EXCESSIVE HEAT, TRAPS WILL NOT BE RENTED FROM JUNE TO SEPTEMBER.
  • Dog Claim – $45.00 animal pound fees plus $15 a day to claim your animal, please call us or come in person.
  • Dead Animals – $45.00 (if we pick them up) State Laws requires all animals to be double-bagged. You can bring your dead animal to 150 N. 11th Street, El Centro, CA and place your dead animal in our freezer free of charge.
  • Problems with Noise (Barking Dogs) – We enforce section 17.1 of the City of El Centro Municipal Code, but as stated there in, we require two (2) written affidavits for us to enforce the law.
  • Lost/Found Animals – Lost or found a dog? Call us and we can help. Dogs found are kept at least 72 hours at the Humane Society. If the dog is adoptable, he/she will be kept a longer time at the Humane Society. Please contact them at (760) 352-1911 for additional information.
  • Dog License – Dog Licenses are $12.00, please take your dog to a local vet and provide vaccination proof.
