The City of El Centro is pleased to announce Edward Singh and Martha Cardenas-Singh as the 2025 Mardi Gras King and Queen for this year’s celebrations.
King Edward Singh
Edward Singh is a dedicated community leader who has volunteered his time and energy to support youth and educational initiatives. He has coached girls’ softball and served as a member of the Kiwanis Club, where he led community beautification projects and organized fundraisers to provide college scholarships for Imperial Valley students. Singh is a member of the Palo Verde College Foundation, where he helps secure funding for college tuition and career technical certificate programs for low-income students. A lifelong advocate for education and youth development, Singh has also worked as a student services director for 25 years. His commitment to the community is unwavering, and he is proud to contribute to the success and well-being of El Centro.
Queen Martha Cardenas-Singh
Martha Cardenas-Singh, a proud El Centro resident, has dedicated 29 years to advocacy work. Beginning her career as a prevention specialist, she has focused on raising awareness about domestic violence and human trafficking while advocating for survivors and their families. Her work has included organizing seminars, conferences, and community events to educate and empower women and girls across Imperial County. Cardenas-Singh has collaborated with volunteer organizations to coordinate donation drives, shelter projects, and support services for survivors. She serves as a national board member for MANA – Western Region and ARC Imperial Valley board member and is a Rotarian. Additionally, she has spent more than 16 years with UC San Diego, offering free workshops on financial aid, scholarships, and college applications for low-income, first-generation students. Her passion for service and dedication to the community are widely recognized and celebrated.
