El Centro, CA – On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m., the El Centro Police Department responded to a reported traffic collision at the intersection of 1st Street and Main Street involving multiple vehicles and serious injuries.
Upon arrival, officers determined that four vehicles were involved in the collision. Tragically, one driver was pronounced deceased at the scene and despite lifesaving efforts, a second driver succumbed to their injuries after being transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
Preliminary investigation suggests that two of the involved vehicles were possibly engaged in illegal street racing at the time of the collision. One of the involved drivers, an adult resident of Imperial, CA, was taken into custody and booked into the Imperial County Jail for their charges. The El Centro Police Department is actively investigating this incident as vehicular homicide. The investigation remains ongoing.
