El Centro, Ca. – October 15, 2024 – The City of El Centro Community Services Department’s Park and Recreation Division is excited to invite the community to its annual Día de los Muertos Celebration on Friday, Nov. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the El Centro Townsquare on Main Street. The free event will celebrate the vibrant Mexican tradition of honoring loved ones who have passed.
Attendees are encouraged to immerse themselves in the colorful customs of Día de los Muertos by creating personal altars in their car trunks, where they can share cherished memories and tributes. Guests are also invited to contribute to the community altar by bringing photos of loved ones to be displayed. Photos may be dropped off at the Community Center, 375 S. 1st St., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The final day for photo submissions and vehicle registration is Wednesday, Oct. 30.
The evening will feature lively music, delicious food, and cultural performances that bring the spirit of Día de los Muertos to life. With a lineup of activities for all ages, this special night promises to be a heartwarming tribute to those we hold dear.
