The El Centro City Council has outlined the process for appointing a new council member to fill a vacant seat, as discussed during its regular meeting Tuesday, March 18.
The application period opens Saturday, March 22, and closes Sunday, April 6 at midnight. Applications will be available online at www.cityofelcentro.org and in person at the City Clerk’s Office, 1275 Main St., El Centro, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Completed applications may be submitted by email to cityclerk@cityofelcentro.org or delivered in person to the City Clerk’s Office.
To be eligible, candidates must be at least 18 years old, reside within El Centro city limits, and be a registered voter in the city at the time of application submission.
The City Council will review applications and select the top five candidates. A special meeting for public interviews will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 16.
The selected candidate will be announced at 10 a.m. April 21, followed by a swearing-in ceremony. For more information, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 760-337-4515.
