El Centro, Ca. – September 4, 2024 – The El Centro Fire Department is proud to announce the safe return of Battalion Chief Brad Chapin and three fellow firefighters following their recent Strike Team deployments.
Battalion Chief Chapin was deployed to the Park Fire in late July, serving as the Base Camp Coordinator. As of September 4, 2024, the Park Fire is 98 percent contained after burning nearly 430,000 acres across Butte and Tehama counties.
Meanwhile, three other El Centro firefighters have just returned from a two-week deployment to the Boise Fire, where they were assigned to a Type 6 apparatus. The Boise Fire, which began in early August in Humboldt County, is currently 72 percent contained and has consumed over 12,900 acres. All team members are safely home and have resumed their duties, including assisting with the training of newly recruited personnel who are now in their third week of academy.
