The City of El Centro Fire Department has been actively engaged in supporting mutual aid efforts both locally and statewide.
On Tuesday evening, the El Centro Fire Department responded to a mutual aid request, deploying a Type 6 engine and a Battalion Chief to Yuma, Arizona. The incident occurred within the Rural Metro Yuma and Arizona Bureau of Land Management (BLM) response areas. El Centro Fire joined resources from Imperial County and Holtville, working from approximately 8:45 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. with a focus on structure protection.
Additionally, today, the El Centro Fire Department joined a strike team to assist in battling the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County. The fire began on January 7 and has already consumed 10,600 acres. It remains at 0% containment, and its cause is currently under investigation.
ECFD sent a Type 6 engine with three personnel and a Battalion Chief serving as Strike Team Leader. The team is working alongside personnel and resources from the Imperial County Fire Department and the Holtville Fire Department to combat the rapidly spreading wildfire.
