City of El Centro unveils new dog park, Bark Park

El Centro, Ca. – April 20, 2024 – The dog days of summer are right around the corner, but luckily, the City of El Centro’s new dog park, Bark Park, has plenty of water features to keep our furry friends cool this summer.

The City unveiled its newest park on Saturday with a Leash Cutting Ceremony, Bark Park, located at 679 Park Avenue, next to the Brett Driscoll Sidewinder Skate Park.

The dog park is a haven for our four-legged companions, with separate areas for small and large dogs. It boasts a range of amenities, including shade structures, a trail area, outdoor lighting, landscaping, parking, and a water feature for large dogs.

“We hope this Park brings lots of joy to our community, especially our dogs,” said Mayor Sylvia Marroquin on Saturday. “This project is another park we have worked to bring to our residents as we continue to improve the quality of life in our community.”

The total cost of the project is $1,191,565. Phil and Elise Heald, members of our community, graciously donated $500,000, with Measure P covering the remaining balance of $696,565. In recognition of their generous support, a plaque commemorating the philanthropic spirit of Phil and Elise Heald, the park’s largest donor, will adorn the park, highlighting their family’s legacy and invaluable contribution to this community-driven initiative.

The dog park will be open Monday through Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
