El Centro, Ca. – October 4, 2024 – The City of El Centro is excited to invite community members to join us for two engaging and creative Día de los Muertos Workshops, where you’ll get to immerse yourself in the rich, vibrant traditions of this cherished cultural celebration! Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to learn and create in a festive, hands-on environment at the El Centro Community Center, 375 S 1st St, on October 15 and October 16, 2024.
The Flower Craft Workshop will take place on October 15, where participants will learn how to create traditional marigold flowers, a symbol of Día de los Muertos, while celebrating the significance of honoring ancestors through this vibrant craft. On October 16, the Papel Picado Craft Workshop will teach attendees the intricate art of making papel picado banners, which represent the fragility of life and celebrate the spirits of loved ones who have passed away.
Both workshops are open to participants ages 12 and up, and they will be taught by instructor Ana Pineda. The cost is $10 per person per workshop, and space is limited to 20 participants. Pre-registration is required.
