The City of El Centro is warning the public about a potential phone scam involving a spoofed El Centro Police Department number.
While police personnel may occasionally call residents as part of an investigation, they will never request money under threat of arrest or demand payment using gift cards. Any fines, such as those related to parking violations, must be paid in person at the police station.
Residents are urged to remain alert. If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and contact the El Centro Police Department’s non-emergency line at 760-352-2111 to verify the call.
