EL CENTRO, Calif. – November 26, 2024: The City of El Centro is pleased to announce that Councilmember Sonia Carter has been appointed to the Transportation, Communications, and Public Works Policy Committee of the League of California Cities (Cal Cities) recently. In this role, Carter will represent the Mayors and Councilmembers across the state, contributing to discussions on state policies affecting transportation, communication, and public works across California.

The Transportation, Communications, and Public Works Policy Committee reviews issues related to transportation planning, technology, funding, construction, public works, telecommunications, and other related areas. Carter’s work on the committee will help address key topics, shaping policies that impact communities statewide.
As a policy committee representative, Carter will participate in meetings held at least three times per year in January, March, and June, with additional sessions as necessary during the Cal Cities Annual Conference and Expo. Through this committee, she will work with leaders from across the state to help develop and advocate for policies that meet the evolving needs of California’s cities.
