El Centro Fire Department Announces the Return of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program

El Centro, CA., March 10, 2025:

The El Centro Fire Department is excited to reintroduce the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program to the public! This valuable training provides community members with the skills and knowledge to assist their families, neighbors, and first responders during emergencies and disasters.

Our upcoming CERT class will be held at El Centro Fire Department Headquarters, 1910 N. Waterman Ave., El Centro, and will begin on April 7th, concluding the first week of May. The schedule is as follows:

  • Week 1: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Weeks 2-4: Tuesday and Thursday
  • Class hours: 5:30 PM – 8:15 PM

This free program follows the FEMA CERT curriculum, covering essential disaster response skills, including:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Fire Safety and Suppression
  • Basic Medical Operations
  • Light Search and Rescue
  • Team Organization
  • Disaster Psychology

Upon completion, participants will be better prepared to help their communities in times of crisis. Space is limited!
