El Centro, Ca. – September 11, 2024 – The League of California Cities has appointed El Centro Councilmember Tomas Oliva as Vice Chair of its Environmental Quality Policy Committee for 2025. The appointment was made by League President Lynne Kennedy recently.
“I am deeply honored by this appointment and will do my utmost to represent the city, the Valley, and the state in addressing the critical environmental challenges we face,” said Councilmember Oliva.
According to the Cal Cities website, the Environmental Quality Policy Committee focuses on key environmental issues such as air and water quality, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), solid waste management and recycling, hazardous materials, coastal concerns, utilities, and wildfires.
In an email confirming Oliva’s appointment, the League of California Cities noted, “The Cal Cities Board of Directors relies heavily on the work of the policy committees. Your leadership on the committee will contribute to the Cal Cities policy development process’s success and advocacy efforts.”
Policy committee chairs and vice chairs serve a one-year term that ends at the end of the 2025 Annual Conference.
