El Centro, CA – September 4, 2024 – Join us for a night where tradition meets celebration! The City of El Centro is thrilled to host “El Grito” on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Bucklin Park. This annual event, in partnership with the Consulate of Mexico in Calexico, celebrates one of the most significant traditions in Mexican culture.
“El Grito” promises an evening of lively entertainment, delicious food, and the vibrant spirit that defines our community. Highlights include a Salsa Contest, where local vendors will compete for the title of best salsa, along with performances by Raul Uribe (El Chente del Oxxo), Ballet Folklorico Danzas de Mexico, and Mariachi Aurora de Calexico. It’s an evening full of music, dance, and cultural pride!
“This year’s ‘El Grito’ celebrates our community’s unity and vibrant culture,” said City of El Centro Mayor Sylvia Marroquin. “We’re excited to host this event, and the salsa contest adds a fun twist as we come together to honor our shared heritage.”
