El Centro, Ca. – July 5, 2024 – The City of El Centro Fire Department, along with other Imperial County crews, sent a strike team to the Thompson Fire in Butte County on Wednesday.
Resources from the City of El Centro include one Battalion Chief, four personnel, and a Wildland capable fire engine, a vehicle that can operate in off-road areas.
The El Centro crew joined other crews from Calipatria, Holtville, Calexico, Imperial County, and Big Pine fire departments.
According to media reports, the Thompson Fire has destroyed 25 structures and is 46 percent contained as of Friday afternoon.
