El Centro, Ca. – June 7, 2024 – The City of El Centro has launched its new Imperial Avenue Complete Streets Plan website to promote community engagement and provide updates while the City works to enhance all modes of travel along Imperial Avenue.
The Imperial Avenue Complete Streets Plan focuses on the Imperial Avenue Corridor between Adams Avenue and Treshill Road. It aims to preserve Imperial Avenue as an essential regional roadway while incorporating needed safety and beautification improvements for people walking, bicycling, and taking transit.
The plan, funded through a grant from the Caltrans Sustainable Planning Program, is scheduled to be completed by February 2025. It will include assessing existing roadway conditions and extensive community engagement to help develop the best design that addresses the City’s concerns. The website, located on the front page of the city’s website, www.cityofelcentro.org, will provide information on the project, past and future outreach efforts, and a GIS-based interactive online map.
