Draft Mobile and Sidewalk Vending Ordinance Available for Review – Submit your comments and questions by June 6, 2025

The City of El Centro is currently reviewing updates to its ordinance regulating sidewalk and mobile vending. These regulations apply to the sale of non-food goods and mobile food facilities (e.g., food trucks, food carts) operating on city sidewalks, streets, parks, and private property.

The goals of the proposed revisions are to:

  • Consolidate existing regulations for mobile food facilities, sidewalk vendors, and vendors on private property into a single section of the City’s Municipal Code.
  • Streamline the application process and clearly define time, place, and manner restrictions for vending operations.
  • Ensure public’s continued use and enjoyment of parks while allowing certain vending operations.
  • Evaluate opportunities to allow mobile food vendors to operate on certain public streets, subject to specific setbacks and safety requirements to protect public health and safety.

A draft of the proposed ordinance is available for public review below. Current and prospective vendors, as well as interested members of the public, are encouraged to review the draft and share any comments with the Community Development Department by June 6, 2025 by emailing ecplanning@cityofelcentro.org or calling (760) 337-4545.
