November 5, 2024 – General Municipal Election

The City of El Centro is scheduled to hold an election on November 5, 2024, to elect three City Council Members for four-year terms. Nomination papers are available at City Hall, City Clerk’s Office, located at 1275 W. Main Street, Building B. Nomination papers will be issued from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please call 760-337-4515 to schedule an appointment.

NOTICE OF ELECTION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a General Municipal Election will be held in the City of El Centro on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, for the following Officers:

For three (3) Members of the City Council Full term of four (4) years

Martha Cardenas-Singh

Edgard Garcia (has been issued nomination papers)

Sylvia Marroquin (has been issued nomination papers)

The nomination period for these offices begins on July 15, 2024 and closes on August 9, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

If nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the city are not filed by August 9, 2024, (the 88th day before the election), the voters shall have until the 83rd day before the election, August 14, 2024 to nominate candidates other than the person(s) who are the incumbents on the 88th day before the election, for that incumbent’s elective office. This extension is not applicable where there is no incumbent eligible to be elected.

If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by §10229, Elections Code of the State of California.

Polling stations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

SE DA AVISO QUE se realizara una Elección General Municipal en la Ciudad de El Centro, el martes, 5, de noviembre de 2024, para los siguientes Oficiales. El documento de nominación se puede recoger en el Ayuntamiento, Oficina de la Secretaria Municipal en 1275 W. Main Street, edificio B. Llame para programar una cita al 760-337-4515.

El periodo de nominación para estos cargos comienza el 15 de julio de 2024 y cierra el 9 de agosto de 2024 a las 5:00 p.m.

Si los documentos de nominación para un funcionario titular de la ciudad no se presentan antes del 9 de agosto de 2024 (el día 88 antes de la elección) los votantes tendrán hasta 83 día antes de la elección, 14, de agosto de 2024 para nominar candidatos que no sean persona(s) que son los titulares el día 88 antes de la elección, para el cargo electivo de ese titular. Esta extensión no es aplicable cuando no hay un titular elegible para ser elegido.

Si nadie o sola una persona es nominada para un cargo electivo, la cita para cargo electivo se puede hacer según lo prescrito en §10229, Código de Elecciones del Estado de California.

Los centros electorales estarán abiertos entre las 7:00 a.m. y 8:00 p.m.
