Refuse Drop off Service
The City of El Centro offers free disposal of solid waste by El Centro residents at CR&R’s transfer station located at 599 E. Main Street every Saturday from 7 am to 12 pm. Bring your water bill for proof of address. Refer to the Drop off service flyer. or contact CR&R at (760) 482-5656 for additional information. Remember to cover your load to meet CHP requirements!
Curbside Bulk Item Pickup
The City of El Centro will pick up three bulk items per single-family household, per calendar year at no charge. Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note, only items listed at the time of scheduling will be picked up. Place listed items in the street against the front curb by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up day. Items will be picked up rain or shine. Additional pick-ups can be scheduled for a fee. Please call CR&R at (877) 482-5656 to schedule an appointment.
Acceptable Items:
Acceptable items include large, bulky items that do not fit in your regular refuse container(s), such as large appliances, furniture, and mattresses.
Weight Limit:
What one man can easily handle.
Additional Information:
- Bagged, boxed, and bundled materials are not accepted.
- One load is considered one large appliance, one mattress, one couch, etc. CR&R staff will determine how many loads are included in each pick-up.
- Soiled, infested, or contaminated items must be sealed in heavy plastic.
- Glass items (e.g. mirrors, windows, etc.) must be taped and sealed in heavy plastic.

Curbside Used Oil Collection
The City of El Centro provides a FREE curbside used oil collection program. To schedule a pickup, please contact CR&R at 760-482-5656.
Electronic Waste Disposal
The City partners with CR&R and the IVRMA to provide a FREE electronic waste pickup and drop-off programs. Electronic waste includes computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, televisions, DVD players, hard drives, fax machines, cell phones, etc. Residents can schedule a pickup from IVRMA by calling 1-877-732-9253 or calling CR&R at 760-482-5656. Used oil may also be collected curbside FREE of charge. To schedule a used oil pickup, please contact the CR&R at 760-482-5656.

Free Paper Shredding Event
The City of El Centro through CR&R sponsors FREE shredding event. Certified shredding trucks are provided onsite during the events and all items are shredded ONSITE! The services are provided twice a year and occur during scheduled Solid Waste and Bulky Item Drop-off Events.
Sharps Collection Program
The City of El Centro through CR&R provides a pre-paid, postage-paid mail-back container to residents to safely collect sharps and send sharps for proper disposal. To request a container, please contact CR&R at (760) 482-5656.
Annual Compost Give-a-way
The City of El Centro through CR&R sponsors an annual compost giveaway. Notice of the event date is provided in advance to the public.
Construction and Demolition Debris
Construction and Demolition (C&D) material is generated through construction activities. This waste stream includes, but is not limited to: concrete, asphalt, gypsum, wood waste, glass, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, red clay brick, corrugated cardboard, a variety of plastics (PVC pipe, etc.), glass, and yard wastes. Per the California Green Building Standards Code (CalGreen), all new residential, commercial, and mixed use construction projects in El Centro are required to divert a minimum of 65 percent of construction and demolition (C&D) waste from landfill disposal.
