First Responders Park Ground Breaking
The City of El Centro invited the public to the groundbreaking and naming ceremony of First Responders Park,alongwiththeMichaelBenavidezMemorialPlayground, on Thursday, November 7 at 1910 N. Waterman Avenue, South of El Centro Fire Station No. 3.
The proposed park project is to include playground areas for 2 to 5 year olds and 5 to 12 year olds, an exercise equipment area, a bocce court, sidewalks, lighting, grass areas, picnic tables, fabric shades, drinking fountains, a parking lot to accommodate 14 parking spaces, and trees along with other landscape.
The park project construction was awarded to Three Peaks Corporation in the amount of $1,142,032.78.
The installation of the park’s playground features was awarded to Play and Park Structures, Inc. in the amount of $654,884.51.
The design, construction management and support has and is being completed by Engineering Division staff.
The project’s expected total cost is $1,796,917.29, which has been majorly approved by City Council to be funded in whole by Measure P. First Responders park is anticipated to be completed by March 2020.
