    Stark Field Playground Improvements
El Centro and Imperial Valley residents who frequent Stark Field for a variety of sporting events and family celebrations are now be able to enjoy the new playground activities for children. Stark Field is located at 431 S, 4th Street adjacent to the El Centro Chamber of Commerce. The new playground is bright, fun and has a variety of features. Additional site amenities included new trash cans and trees.
The construction cost of the Stark Playground Improvements Project was $103,000.00 and was funded by Measure P.

Multi-family housing projects
City awarded $10.1M for multi-family rental new construction projects from Department of Housing and Community Development
Recently the California Department of Housing and Community Development awarded $10,100,000 in Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) funds for multi- family housing projects in El Centro. Chelsea Investment Corporation was awarded $5 Million for the construction of 56 multi-family housing units that will be built at 1725 Adams Avenue.
The City of El Centro was awarded $5.1 Million for the construction of 24 multi-family units that will be constructed at the northeast corner of 8th Street & El Dorado Avenue in El Centro. This grant application was a joint effort with housing developer, AMG & Associates.
Combined, a total of 80 apartment units will be provided to the community. The construction of these apartments will greatly improve the aesthetics of previously blighted, vacant lots. Construction is anticipated to begin July 2020.
