The City of El Centro has been awarded for the 12th consecutive year the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2019.
“This award is a reflection of the City of El Centro’s commitment to serve the public interest with integrity, fiscal accountability, and transparency,” stated former Mayor Efrain Silva.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government entity and its management. “I am extremely proud of the hard work our Finance Department has done in receiving this Certificate of Achievement recognition.” stated Silva.
“What this recognition means is that our CAFR provides a clear and understandable assessment of the City’s Financial Health,” said City Manager Marcela Piedra. For the 12th consecutive year, the GFOA has presented this award to the City of El Centro’s Finance Department for its CAFR.
